Community Answering The Door Policy
This is a community assembled policy by members on what to do when answering the door:
- Answering the door is voluntary
- All guests must fill out a waiver
- Guests are your responsibility
- Members must verify membership
- Police need a warrant or emergency to enter
This list is purposefully worded brief and concisely to fit in a poster on the back of the door. For future edits please keep it that way.
Explanations
1. Answering the door is voluntary
Don't feel comfortable? Don't do it!
There is no requirement for you or any member to answer the door. If you don't feel comfortable doing so, that's ok. If there's an event happening, please ask the host to manage the door.
2. All guests must fill out a waiver
ps1.link/iwillnotdiehere Don't let someone tail you in!
This is a legal requirement. Ask the guest if they've previously filled one out. If not, please give them the QR code link to it.
3. Guests are your responsibility
Or hand the guest off to another member/event host
If you as a member admit a guest into the space, you are responsible for them until they leave, or when handed off to another member. Examples of a handoff are:
- Someone who's a friend of a member
- An attendee to an event hosted by a member
- A delivery for another member
4. Members must verify membership
Missing key? Verify membership! ps1.link/membership
If a member has lost or damaged their key, they must verify their membership if being admitted by another member. This can be confirmed through the members list on the membership portal.
Don't let someone tail you in if they can't unlock the door with their key!
Missing your key? A quicker and safer way to get in if you're locked out is to use ps1.link/lockedout and get let in by Door Bot.
5. Police need a warrant or emergency to enter
No warrant? No emergency? No entry! Yell for member help if you need it!
For the safety of everyone in the space, law enforcement officers need to have a warrant to enter the space, or if they were called by someone in the space for an emergency. If you need help from other members on managing a situation like this, please yell for help.
