Age Verification Policy

Overview

All new members must verify they are 18 years of age or older before gaining access to Pumping Station: One facilities and equipment. This policy exists to protect both members and the organization from liability issues related to minors using potentially dangerous equipment.

Why Age Verification is Required

Legal and Insurance Requirements

- Liability Protection: Our insurance requires that all members be legal adults who can enter into binding agreements

- Legal Agreements: Membership agreements, waivers, and equipment usage policies require legal capacity to contract

Risk Management

- Power tools, chemicals, and other equipment pose inherent risks

- Emergency medical decisions may require adult consent

- Property damage liability requires contractual capacity

Verification Process

What We Check

- Age only - We verify the person is 18+ years old

- No personal information is recorded beyond membership records

- No photocopying of identification documents

Privacy Protections

- Only the birth date is noted for age confirmation

- No other identifying information from ID is recorded or retained

- Members can request a private verification process if needed

Accommodations and Sensitivity

We recognize that ID verification can present challenges for some community members. We are committed to working with members to find solutions that meet both legal requirements and individual needs while maintaining dignity and privacy.
