Vote Announcement and Beginning Date of the Discussion Period

The announcement date of the vote proposal is the beginning date of the seven-day (minimum) posting and Member discussion period. (Certain exceptional vote types have longer discussion periods. Check the Bylaws if you are unsure.) If the Sponsor has chosen to include member input, suggested edits can be made in a shared document or other collaborative vehicle until the language is locked. The sponsor can stop taking suggestions at any time.

Language Lock Date and Start of Voting

Five days prior to the Day of the Vote, the vote language is locked, all edits are frozen, and the language of the vote is converted to a pdf file. Ballots that include the pdf are sent to the Membership, and electronic voting begins. Background

The space has historically struggled with active communication to the membership. Despite our increased engagement on Discord, there is still a large portion of the membership that is not engaged with the communication channels that we have, and many things are not broadcast to members who physically come into the space.

Synopsis

After successfully deploying a new signage solution to the front door TV, we are looking to implement a digital signage solution in all areas of the space to increase communication with the membership and guests.

The goal is to install digital signage in every area that can display various things, including:

  • Area host announcements, reminders
  • Organization announcements
  • Fundraising announcements and updates

The current goal is to allow area hosts and volunteers to update select pages using standard wiki pages with custom CSS, enabling quick and easy updates.

Volunteers will also be able to add custom images and videos using the PiSignage platform powering the signage.

Language of the Vote

Authorize the CTO and President to spend $X,XXX towards the purchase and installation of a digital signage solution.
