Alternative consequences
When working on discipline issues this year, we had people arguing that banning is not the only option. I made a list of more fine grained options. I don't want to lose that so I am sharing it here.

- Specific action such as apology (not always a good idea)
- Requiring to avoid any interaction with, and physical proximity to, people involved in the situation
- Ending volunteer responsibilities
- Permanent ban from online spaces
- Temporary ban from online spaces
- Moderation in online spaces
- Required supervision
